The North Las Vegas Police Department Community Cam Program pairs police and the community to take advantage of the abundance of video surveillance systems at homes and businesses throughout the community to help reduce crime. Through communication with community members, the program works to deter crime, identify suspects and increase our Department’s proactive approaches to safety.

In partnership with the Neighbors by Ring app, the program enables community members to see, post and engage on posts related to crime and safety in their neighborhood. The app also allows police to submit video requests to users for use in investigations. Residents are not required to have a Ring device to use this platform.

There is no fee for residents or businesses to participate, and user information is confidential. Participants can unregister or opt out at any time.

The help of the community is integral to solving crime!

Visit our Community Cam Program Registration page for new registrations, to update an existing registration or to opt out of the program.

How it works

  1. A homeowner or business owner installs a surveillance system on their property.

  2. In the course of recording, the surveillance system catches something useful for the Police Department, perhaps a perpetrator coming, leaving or committing a crime.

  3. A Patrol Officer approaches you as part of an investigation and asks if it would be possible for you to review your video between the listed times of the event. Or perhaps you discover something of law enforcement concern on your video and contact NLVPD.

  4. With your information, helpful information captured on the surveillance system will be downloaded and passed along to detectives, enabling them to better solve the crime or address the situation.

Please note that we do not collect any of your vital information during the registration process, we do not ever “tap” into your surveillance system, and your information is accessible to police only for official investigations with your approval and authorization. Together, you and our officers work hand-in-hand in solving crime in your area.
