Chaplains

NLVPD Chaplains are unpaid volunteers who assist the entire agency 24/7/365 by providing emotional, moral  and spiritual support. The Chaplains are assigned to the Peer Support Program (EARR), whose primary function is to provide emotional support to staff and their families. Anything disclosed to a Chaplain is confidential. They work with the department to offer support to Crime Scene Investigators, Records Assistants, Corrections Officers, Marshals, Dispatchers, Animal Protection Officers, the Evidence Vault and Police Officers just to name a few.  They also assist citizens in need and inmates detained at our Correctional Facility.  They provide support for Crisis & Critical Incidents; Officer Well Being; Community Police Engagement; Officer Deaths; etc.

Chaplains also visit staff that are injured, attend briefings, special events, do ride-along and program with those that are deployed before they depart and once they return.

The chaplains are required to provide 20 hours of service monthly to the Department and they are also required to attend yearly trainings.
