AndersonCouncilwoman Ruth Garcia-Anderson joined the North Las Vegas City Council in December 2022 with a passion to serve her community. She is proud to be the first Latina City Councilwoman in North Las Vegas.

Garcia-Anderson is a long time City of North Las Vegas resident and lives in Ward 2 with her four beautiful children and husband Jordan Massey Anderson. Garcia-Anderson prioritizes community, education, civic engagement and ensuring that North Las Vegas is a wonderful place to grow and prosper. She has a desire to serve, learn and ensure a  high quality of life here for residents. 

Garcia-Anderson earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Business with a minor in Marketing, as well as a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Spanish Academic Diploma from the University of Nevada, Reno.

Her civic and community leadership experience includes:

  • Chairperson of Latino organization for two terms while attending college and offering support to high school students

  • Conducted research in the Hispanic community in Northern Nevada through the Latino Research Center at the University of Nevada, Reno

  • Worked as a volunteer translating documents for the Northern Nevada International Center 

  • Provides free language interpreting services at several large meetings and women's conferences for her church

  • Volunteer weekly at her children's elementary school helping children read

Garcia-Anderson is Vice Chairwoman of the North Las Vegas Redevelopment Agency and is a member of the North Las Vegas Deferred Compensation Plan Committee, Southern Nevada Enterprise Community Board and Southern Nevada Child Drowning Prevention Coalition. 

In her free time, Councilwoman Garcia-Anderson enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering, playing the piano for the choir at her church and trying new activities with her family.
