The City Attorney is the Chief Legal Officer of the City and represents and advises the Mayor, City Council, Redevelopment Agency, Planning Commission, North Las Vegas Library District, City boards, City officials and departments in legal matters pertaining to City operations. The City Attorney’s Office provides transactional and advisory services as general counsel, and provides litigation services.

The City Attorney’s Office is committed to serving with integrity while providing timely, accurate and quality legal representation to City departments and providing protection to the citizens of North Las Vegas through timely and just prosecution of misdemeanor crimes.

The Civil Division of the City Attorney’s Office provides legal advice to the City Council, City Management and City employees. The Civil Division is responsible for drafting and reviewing ordinances, administrative regulations and policies. City Attorneys help negotiate and draft City contracts, real property documents, leases and professional services agreements.  

The City Attorney’s Office also serves as counsel and represents and appears on behalf of the City in matters pending before the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, Nevada Supreme Court, U.S. District Court – District of Nevada, Eighth Judicial District Court, Clark County Justice Court – North Las Vegas Township, North Las Vegas Municipal Court, Nevada Employee Management Relations Board, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and in private arbitrations.
