Home MenuCommunity Oriented Policing
Welcome to the Community Oriented Policing, or COP, Unit! Here at the North Las Vegas Police Department, we are committed to maintaining a culture of collaboration and community engagement that all personnel contribute to on a daily basis.
Officers assigned specifically to the COP Unit are responsible for various programs designed to reduce crime, reduce the fear of crime, enhance relationships within the community, build trust, and encourage an open dialogue between the community and the Police Department to improve the quality of life for all within the City of North Las Vegas.
We are out and about in the community daily and run a wide variety of programming. Among the services we offer the community:
Police Athletic League
The Police Athletic League, or PAL, serves children ages 5 to 18 to cultivate strong, positive relationships with and attitudes toward law enforcement. This program provides memorable experiences with our officers in a setting that is fun, healthy and inviting. Throughout the year, officers teach and play a variety of sports with the kids, who then compete in tournaments against other law enforcement agencies and youth across the valley.
R.E.C.A.P. (Rebuilding Every City Around Peace)
R.E.C.A.P. is a faith-based community and law enforcement partnership that brings intervention and proactive positive response to crime and trauma scenes in an effort to prevent further violence. Faith-based volunteers are activated by law enforcement to partner using proven methods to combat and neutralize violence.
