Take the written test online here through the National Testing Network. It is specifically designed for entry-level law enforcement.
The test includes three sections:
The Human Relations Test focuses on using good judgment in enforcement, community relations and teamwork. Candidates watch a video segment and then choose the best course of action in a multiple-choice format. This test is presented on video, and the items play without stopping. Candidates have 10 seconds to answer each question. Law enforcement experience is not needed to answer the questions. The answers rely only on information given in the test and common sense.
The Report Writing Test is given in two parts. For the first part, candidates are shown a brief scenario on video and are asked to write a factual report describing the scenario. Candidates will watch the scenario twice with time in between to take notes. After watching, candidates have 10 minutes for writing. For the second part of the test, candidates are asked to use the report they wrote during the first portion to answer multiple-choice questions.
The Multiple-Choice Reading Test is designed specifically for people seeking law enforcement positions, which require ongoing study of technical materials. This test is based on actual job materials. Candidates will be required to choose a word that best fits in the blank.
Total test time: 2.5 hours
