The Records Division provides copies of reports and assists people with obtaining background checks. To request a report by mail, please include a copy of your identification, a notarized letter with the case number and/or any other pertinent information, and a self addressed stamped/postage-paid envelope. If requesting a 911 call and/or photos, the return envelope must accommodate a CD. All fees for the requested report(s) must be included with the request.

If the requested information requires extensive research to locate and/or extensive copying, the following charges will apply:

  • A fee of $40 per hour for the actual staff time necessary to research and retrieve the requested information. These charges are to cover the cost of retrieval only. They do not cover any reproduction costs. 

  • A $40 non-refundable deposit is required.

Acceptable forms of identification

For each of the above services, a valid photo ID must be presented. The following is a list of acceptable photo identifications:

  • Any valid driver license or state ID issued by a state Department of Motor Vehicles

  • Military identification

  • Passport

  • Permanent Resident Card issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

Examples of identification that are not acceptable: health card, work card, employment ID card

Convicted Person Registration

Convicted sex offenders and other people with convictions living in or visiting the City of North Las Vegas must register with the North Las Vegas Police Department within 48 hours of arriving in the City.
