The Crime Free Multi-Housing Program is a community-oriented initiative designed to help apartment owners, managers, residents and law enforcement agencies work together to keep illegal activity out of rental properties. The program aims to reduce crime, improve safety and enhance the quality of life for residents. Key components of the program include:

1. Certification Process: Property managers and owners undergo training to learn effective property management practices and how to identify and address illegal activities.

2. Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED): The program emphasizes environmental design techniques to deter crime such as proper lighting, secure access points and visibility improvements.

3. Resident Involvement: Encourages residents to take an active role in maintaining a safe community through neighborhood watch programs and other collaborative efforts.

4. Police Partnership: Establishes a strong partnership between property managers and local law enforcement, including regular meetings, sharing of information and coordinated crime prevention strategies.

5. Lease Addendum: Implements a lease addendum that outlines expectations for tenant behavior and the consequences of engaging in criminal activity on the property.

The overall goal is to create safer, more secure living environments through proactive measures and collaboration among all stakeholders.
