Veterans Community Commission
Regular meetings of the Veterans Community Commission are held, quarterly, February, May, August, and November, the 4th Wednesday of the month at 5:00pm at North Las Vegas City Hall, Council Chambers, 2250 Las Vegas Blvd, N., North Las Vegas, NV 89030
The Veterans Community Commission acts as a formal advisory board to the Mayor and City Council on matters relating to Veterans, support Veteran-oriented special events and collaborative events that meet the needs of Veterans, and serve as an advocacy body on behalf of Veterans in the community.
Among the duties of the members:
- Identify local resources, services, benefits, and opportunities for Veterans, as well as gaps and overlays in the same, and make recommendations for improvements in North Las Vegas.
- Advocate for Veterans services to ensure adequate support is received from public officials, citizens, and private entities.
- Serve as local public body to hear Veterans concerns.
- Advise public service agencies and providers on Veteran issues and services as appropriate.
- Identify opportunities and request resources from community, local, state, and federal partners that encourages collaboration of services for Veterans, service members and their families.
- Host local events that showcase opportunities for Veterans, service members, and their families at the state and local level.
Composition:
- Consists of five (5) members.
- Members must be residents of the City of North Las Vegas.
- Members term of office will be two (2) years upon appointment by the City Council.
