Civil Service Board

Regular meetings of the Civil Service Board will be held the 3rd Tuesday of July at 5:00pm in North Las Vegas City Hall.  Other meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month in October, January, and April as needed.  

Note: Special meetings of the Civil Service Board will be scheduled as needed in the event of an employee appeal.

The purpose of the Civil Service Board is to prepare in ordinance form for passage and adoption by the City Council rules and regulations governing the administration of the Civil Service System. 

 Such ordinance shall provide procedures for:

      (a) Recruitment, examining and placement of employees;

      (b) Classification of positions and pay plan;

      (c) Promotions, disciplinary actions and removal of employees;

      (d) Appeal hearings; and

      (e) Such other personnel matters as the Board may recommend.

Working with the Director of Human Resources, the Civil Service Board will review the published ordinance for currency and make recommendations as necessary.  

Composition

Five members

  • Must be a resident of North Las Vegas
  • May serve on more than one of the City’s advisory boards at a time
