The City of North Las Vegas launched the Nonprofit Accelerator Program in October 2022 in partnership with Nevada GrantLab to assist local nonprofit groups and public agencies maximize the use of federal grants and resources to serve North Las Vegas residents and build stronger organizations.

The program is slated to run for at least two years. The Nonprofit Accelerator helps organizations prepare for, apply for and follow through on federal grant applications.

The program includes three components:

• General Capacity Building: An annual 40-hour series of workshops, peer exchange and self-help resources in which nonprofits and public organizations learn core concepts, build capabilities and strengthen their organizations to serve North Las Vegas communities.
• Technical Assistance: Targeted hands-on support from experts to help a participant discover and address a specific organizational or programmatic need/opportunity. Technical assistance will focus on creating and/or strengthening the core elements necessary to compete for and manage federal grant funding. Services may include efforts such as creating a program-based needs statement, assisting in documentation of budgets by program area with associated allocation bases, cash-flow analysis and/or review, and other toolkits that can be used to strengthen an organization's federal grant application.
• Grant Services: Hands-on services provided by GrantLab experts and contractors to develop high-quality grant applications and materials to locate and pursue federal funding opportunities. These services may include but are not limited to: guidance for searching for grant opportunities, reviewing and strengthening declined applications to improve competitiveness on future proposals, and full or partial proposal writing services.
