The Budget and Project Accounting Division is responsible for the coordination, preparation and adoption of the City’s operating and capital budgets, and the submission of the adopted budget to the state as required by Nevada Revised Statutes. In addition, the division provides financial administration of the City’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), which outlines short- and long-term
capital projects over a 5-year period.

The City of North Las Vegas has received the Distinguished Budget Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) every year since its initial submission in 2004 (with the exception of 2012 due to staffing constraints). In addition, the City has received special recognition awards from the GFOA, including “Outstanding as a Communications Device” for two consecutive years and “Outstanding as a Policy Document” for multiple years running.

Budget Division sections

Budget - responsible for the coordination, preparation, and adoption of the City’s operating budget, as well as the submission of the adopted budget to the State Department of Taxation (State) as required by Nevada Revised Statutes.

Project Accounting - performs financial reporting and project monitoring for externally and internally funded projects.

Fixed Assets - responsible for the proper recording of fixed assets and property, in accordance with local laws, rules, regulations, GAAP and these policies and procedures.
