The mission of the Planning and Zoning Division is to enhance the quality of life for every North Las Vegas resident by fostering the implementation of creative ideas and innovative programming.

The division is comprised of two primary areas.

Current Planning is responsible for reviewing all applications for development within the City. This group reviews all land use development proposals, building permits, business license requests, home occupation applications, conditional use permits, and performs landscape inspections.

Applications may be approved by staff or recommendations may be submitted to the Planning Commission and City Council.

Advanced Planning helps to support the City's priority of maintaining well-planned, quality, long-term growth for residents. In addition to planning for the City’s future, this section works closely with local, state and federal partners on opportunities and challenges that transcend jurisdictional boundaries, such as education, health care, the natural environment, recreation, culture, transportation and sustainability.
