Business Watch

Business Watch enables our business community to actively participate in reducing crime. Participants network with police officers and other participating City of North Las Vegas businesses to share important crime prevention information and to work together to increase safety and security.

C.P.T.E.D. Security Survey

C.P.T.E.D. (pronounced SEP-TED) stands for Crime Prevention through Environmental Design and is based on the premise that the proper design and effective use of a built environment can lead to reduced crime and a better quality of life. By implementing C.P.T.E.D. concepts, businesses can better manage their physical resources, increase profits and lower losses.

C.P.T.E.D. Security Surveys are available for homes and businesses. When you request a free C.P.T.E.D. Security Survey, a trained Crime Prevention Specialist will conduct an on-site walkthrough of your property to identify ways to make it more secure. To schedule a free Security Survey for your home, call the NLVPD Community Services Division at (702) 633-1808.

In addition to C.P.T.E.D. Security Surveys, Business Watch participants are invited to enjoy a score of free programs. The classes are taught by a Crime Prevention Specialist and can be customized to the time frame needed.

S.I.L.A. (Summons In Lieu of Arrest) Program

The S.I.L.A. Program was developed so businesses with a security department or asset protection team can handle low-risk, in-custody incidents without police response. Businesses that receive training can process their own paperwork for misdemeanor violations including trespass, petit larceny and disturbing the peace.

Email NLVPDCOP@cityofnorthlasvegas.com to find out more about implementing this program.
