The holiday tradition of shooting guns into the air as a show of celebration is deadly and against the law.

Here are some safety tips:

– Don’t shoot firearms at parties.
– Party hosts should prohibit firearms.
– Avoid mixing alcohol with gunplay.
– Any witnesses to celebratory gunfire should call 911 immediately.

Remember, in addition to being against the law, celebratory gunfire can cause injury and possibly death.

Fire Department: Car Seat Safety Inspection

Car Seat Safety Inspection PSA Video

Did you know, in Clark County, an estimated 98% of safety seats are installed incorrectly?  The City of North Las Vegas Fire Department wants to help save lives and prevent injuries by promoting the proper installation of child safety seats.

Nevada law requires children to be in appropriate child restraints until age 6 and 60 pounds.  If your child has outgrown the height and weight limits of a harnessed safety seat, a booster seat should be used.

Protect your child by having your safety seat inspected by the City of North Las Vegas Fire Department. Call 633-1102 for an appointment.

Police Department, Animal Control: Spaying & Neutering

Animal Control PSA Video

The City of North Las Vegas encourages you to protect your pets by spaying or neutering them.  A new City ordinance now requires all pets residing in North Las Vegas to be spayed or neutered.

By spaying or neutering dogs and cats, pet owners can reduce the risk of certain diseases, plus pets are less likely to run away from home and roam our neighborhoods. This also helps reduce the homeless pet population.

For more information, visit our website or call the North Las Vegas Police Department’s Animal Control Division at 633-1750.
